On September 6, Niverville’s town council heard the second and third reading of its borrowing by-law to extend $5 million to the Niverville multiplex. The motion was passed. As a result, the thermometer outside of the town office rose 30 percent of the way to the project’s $16.5 million goal.

It’s going to be a big year for the Winnipeg Jets. The team, celebrating its sixth year in the NHL, is set to host two outdoor games, as well as launch their team Hall of Fame.

Starting last year, the Prairie Soul Dance Company has offered two different musical theatre classes. This gives students who love musical theatre a chance to be involved at a much more focused level than they would be just through annual high school productions.

Every September at Providence University College, the campus and its staff put on Welcome Week events. This year, the college brought in Juno-award-winning Christian band The City Harmonic to cap off the week with a free concert open to the public.

Every year, a group of area golfers raises money for important local causes through their annual Niverville Masters tournament. This summer, they chose to make a donation to the Eidse family of Niverville.

Not only is Niverville’s population still growing, its boundaries are too with the recent acquisition of land from the RM of Hanover. The acquisition is intended to further council’s mandate to promote and grow our business sector, which in turn helps tip the balance of residential versus commercial taxation.

There is a certain peace and serenity that comes with living in the country. Personally, I would commute an hour’s drive of backroads before five minutes in a Winnipeg rush hour.
