On Tuesday afternoon, a message went out from Randy Dueck, Superintendent of the Hanover School Division, to parents and guardians.

“Schools will remain open and classes in session through Friday, March 20,” Dueck writes. “However, the Chief Medical Officer of Manitoba is encouraging parents/guardians (who are able) to keep their children home from school. Parents/guardians choosing to exercise this option should inform their child’s school as per regular absence procedures. Absences will be recorded, but not count against student learning records.

Dueck adds that the Province has also announced the suspension of licensed daycare services in Manitoba effective end of day Friday, March 20.

“Moving forward, teachers and staff will continue to prepare for distance learning,” Dueck says.
