Province Hands Control of Main Street, Fifth Avenue to Niverville

This past April, the Town of Niverville received welcome news: local infrastructure will be boosted to the tune of nearly $10 million in provincial funding. Those funds cover approximately half the cost to complete a major overhaul of Highway 311 west of the tracks and a resurfacing of the balance of Niverville’s Main Street east of the tracks. The town will bear the balance of the project’s cost.

Local Daycare Faced with Tough Decisions

In April, Growing Minds Child Care (GMCC) made their dilemma public. They had too little space to continue childcare services for 14 out of 17 of the children enrolled and entering the school-age care program. July 9, 2016 was a memorable day for the LGBTQ community of southeast Manitoba. Steinbach’s first annual Pride march went off without a hitch. Concerns about protestors, or the presence of individuals who had uttered threats toward the event, weren’t realized. For a community where many people’s religious beliefs run contrary to the LGBTQ cause, Steinbach appeared a welcoming place.
