The Niverville Nighthawks have booked their spot in the semifinals at the Centennial Cup after a hard-fought 6-4 victory over the Canmore Eagles Tuesday afternoon in a showdown for first place in Group A.

It has been a season to remember for Austin Dubinsky, and the accolades have continued to roll in. On Tuesday, May 12, the 20-year-old netminder from Ardrossan, Alberta was officially named the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Goaltender of the Year after leading the Nighthawks to the best season in franchise history.

The Niverville Nighthawks’ perfect start continued Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Cup. After opening the tournament with a thrilling 5–4 overtime victory on Thursday night, the Nighthawks returned to the ice Saturday afternoon looking for their second straight win, this time against the Thunder Bay North Stars.

As of May 6, the RM of Ritchot has initiated a level two fire restriction. Due to dry spring conditions, open fires are currently not permitted. Fires are allowed in approved receptacles only. 

After several days of travel, practices, sightseeing, and team bonding, the Niverville Nighthawks finally opened play at the Centennial Cup on Thursday night, and they made sure their debut was memorable.
