Construction is complete on the new Flying J Travel Centre in Ste. Agathe, with the doors—and pumps—set to open Saturday, March 3.
The center boasts many amenities for area residents and travellers along the busy Highway 75 corridor, an integral connection between Winnipeg and the United States border. The center, located at 345 Voyageur Road in the Riel Industrial Park, can be accessed directly from the highway.
Eight gasoline fueling position anchor the center alongside five diesel lanes with high-speed pumps for fast refuelling. Other conveniences include food like pizza, sandwiches, and salads, as well as Pilot’s Best Gourmet Coffee.
The new Flying features a Western Union outlet, a driver’s lounge, and a CAT scale.
“As the largest operator of travel centers in North America, Pilot Flying J offers consumers and pro (truck) drivers gas and diesel fuel, casual food offerings, premium coffee, and everyday products for quick shopping needs,” says Christian Blatner, a spokesperson for the company.
Blatner also emphasizes that the center will add 45 new jobs and contribute an estimated $1.6 million to the local economy through tax revenue. It’s the twenty-eighth travel center operated by the company in Canada.
“Ste. Agathe is perfectly located along Highway 75,” points out Shaun Crew, Chairman of the Riel Industrial Park. “[It’s] the mid-continental trade corridor between Canada and the U.S.A. and is a major trucking route for trans-border trade. Our proximity to Winnipeg makes it ideal to avoid the higher taxes and traffic congestion found in the city.”
