A local woman is getting on board with the adult colouring trend by offering Niverville’s first ever Color Between the Wines event.

Becki Wiens started as a consultant for Usborne Books at Home, an organization that offers books for children of all ages. She and her husband moved to Niverville five years ago, and after running most of her business from home she recently started looking for more opportunities to get involved in the community. With the rising trend of adult colouring books and paint nights, Wiens decided to combine the two and offer a colouring night tailored to adults.

Partnering with Bistro 290, Wiens set off to organize an event that would connect locals in a relaxed, fun environment.

“This is the first event like this we will be hosting here in Niverville. Hopefully it goes well and we can plan more events like this one in the future,” Wiens says. “My vision for the Color Between the Wines night was just to provide a place where friends can come and hang out, reduce stress, connect with others, and connect with their inner child joy for a moment!”

The event is happening on Thursday, October 25 from 7:30–9:30 p.m., and provides participants with an Usborne colouring book, colouring utensils, as well as a drink and dessert from Bistro 290. The goal of the night is to encourage adults to find joy in the simple things, as well as connect with other people from the community.

Although tickets for this event are no longer available, Wiens says there has been such a great response that she is already looking at adding more dates in the future.

“I have had such positive feedback already from local people,” she says. “It’s very encouraging to know that there is a desire for this type of community event, and not just here in Niverville either. I have a few people coming from Selkirk, Oak Bank, and Winnipeg. I am looking forward to sharing our beautiful town with them.”
