Intricate as they are simple, each piece combines thoughtful combinations of felt, wood, metal, linoleum, and leather. The designer behind these objects is Sol Desharnais of St. Pierre, who specializes in handbags and home accessories with elegant, minimalist lines that he sells in markets across Canada.

A long-term vision turned into an overnight business success for local fibre artist and dyer Selma Brown, owner of Noble Ruby Designs. From her kitchen in Niverville, Brown mixes up 20 to 30 skeins of yarn every Saturday.

A local photography company is offering a fresh take on family photos. The Little Things is owned and operated by Kayla Hoskins from Niverville, although she offers her services to clients in a broad region throughout Winnipeg and the rural southeast.

On October 7, hundreds of people will flock to Roland, Manitoba to see a showdown between the province’s avid pumpkin growers. The Roland Pumpkin Fair has been around since the 1970s, and this year both the pumpkins and the fair promise to be bigger and better than ever—and that’s saying something, given that last year’s winning pumpkin was a whopping 1,338 pounds!
