It has been a season to remember for Austin Dubinsky, and the accolades have continued to roll in. On Tuesday, May 12, the 20-year-old netminder from Ardrossan, Alberta was officially named the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Goaltender of the Year after leading the Nighthawks to the best season in franchise history.

Dubinsky was dominant throughout the regular season, posting a remarkable 34–3–1 record in 39 starts while helping the Nighthawks finish with a franchise-best 51–6–1 record. His 34 victories were the highest total among all goaltenders across the CJHL.

He wrapped up the year with a stellar 2.18 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage, earning the Ed Belfour Top Goaltender Award as the top goaltender in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Dubinsky finished first in the MJHL in wins, third in goals-against average, and second in save percentage.

The CJHL Goaltender of the Year selection was determined through voting conducted by each of the league’s nine member leagues.

Dubinsky elevated his game even further once the playoffs began, going 12–1 during the postseason, recording three shutouts and allowing more than two goals in a game only once throughout the playoff run. He finished the playoffs with a league-leading 1.31 goals-against average and an outstanding .956 save percentage, cementing his place as one of the top junior goaltenders in Canada.

His success has continued on the national stage at the Centennial Cup, where Dubinsky has already posted a 2–0 record through the opening two games of the tournament.

The Nighthawks now prepare for their toughest challenge yet as they take on the Canmore Eagles, champions of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles currently sit atop the Group A standings with eight points through three games, while the Nighthawks are close behind in second place with five points in two contests.

Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CST.
