The Niverville Nighthawks have won their second straight game after a big 5–2 victory over the Winnipeg Blues on the road on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Nighthawks stay in fourth place in the MJHL’s East Division with a record of 25–22–4.

After going down 1–0 early, Niverville’s offence came alive late in the first period with goals from Ty Kennett and Josh Danis.

In the second period, the Blues got one back to tie the score.

Niverville then pulled away in the third period with a trio of goals as Brendan Bottem, Kaycee Coyle, and Michael Debrito found the back of the net.

Raiden LeGall stopped 37 shots in the Nighthawks’ goal in the win.

“Sticking with it and staying with the plan was important tonight,” said Nighthawks head coach Dwight Hirst. “And also learning to not let teams deviate you from the game plan. We’re also coming together as a group and not falling away from each other. Two short-handed goals and one power play goal helps as well!”

Hirst is thrilled that the Nighthawks are starting to come out of this slump and look like a better team as of late.

“I’ve been pleased with our last three games,” said Hirst. “The loss in Dauphin, we had the compete, and that carried into our last two wins. Again, I may sound like a broken record, but the neutral zone will control your game, and that’s been our strength as of late.”

The Nighthawks are back in action with a rematch against the Winnipeg Blues on the road on Friday, March 1. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
