The Niverville Nighthawks gave it their all but came up a little short on the road Friday night as they fell to the Virden Oil Capitals by 3–1.

The Providence Pilots are back in action after a well-deserved winter break. In women’s basketball, the Pilots defeated Free Lutheran Bible College 81–39 on January 12. For the next two days, they played Oak Hills Christian College, losing their first game 83–88, then capturing a 112–103 victory the next day.

St. Adolphe’s own Avery Pickering has won the gold medal as a member of Team Canada at the IIHF World U18 Women’s Hockey Championship in Ostersund, Sweden.

The Niverville Nighthawks had another big effort on Friday evening as they dispatched the Winkler Flyers on the road by a score of 4–2 score. With the win, the Nighthawks sit seven points behind the Flyers, who are in third place in the division.

Clipper Ice Sports (CIS) is having a banner year, according to its board president, Travis Mason. This season, CIS has 225 registered players and a record number of players who have graduated out of CIS into Eastman AA and AAA regional teams.

The fans got their money’s worth at the CRRC on Saturday night, but in the end the Niverville Nighthawks fell 6–5 in a shootout to the Neepawa Titans. With the loss, the Nighthawks stay in fourth place in the MJHL’s East Division with a record of 18–14–3.
