Sizing Up the Jets

The last time we saw our beloved Winnipeg Jets, they were licking their wounds from a first-round playoff sweep at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks. Many names have changed on the roster since then, but unlike most teams it wasn’t a big trade or flashy free agent signing that switched things up. Most of the changes have come from within, as some of their top prospects were able to claim spots on the opening day roster after a strong preseason.

Richert Takes Jets for a Ride

Local race care driver David Richert took two Winnipeg Jets and an Olympian gold medalist for the ride of their lives on September 10 at the Gimli Motorsports Park. Jets centre Mark Scheifele, goalie Michael Hutchinson, and freestyle skier Dara Howell hit speeds upward of 170 kilometres per hour.

Since 2003, Ray Dowse has spearheaded the annual Niverville Masters golf tournament. It started with 20 players, but over the years the event has grown significantly. There are now 42 players and a waiting list.
