The Niverville Clippers are ending their season with a lot to be proud of. The organization implemented a new development program for its players and coaches this year, bringing in GT Performance once a month for their Novice to Peewee teams.
“We had a very successful season for all initiation teams, and the coaches did a great job building basic skills the kids can carry with them for next year,” says Travis Mason of Clipper Ice Sports. “You sure could see the improvement and hard work pay off each week when kids took to the ice.”
In addition to the new programs, the Novice teams went through some changes late in the season, proving that resilience is the key to success. The teams continued to work hard despite setbacks, resulting in the Niverville/Ste.Agathe Novice team winning two of their three pools at their home tournament.
The Atom teams saw massive success, winning all three banners for Eastman, and the Atom A team came out on top at Provincials.
The Atom C teams hosted the Rural A2 Provincials in Ste. Agathe, where they received great feedback about the organization of the tournament and opening ceremonies. The Niverville and Ste. Agathe teams ended up playing each other in the bronze medal game, a wonderful way to close out the season.
“We would like to give a huge thanks to the parents from both teams for all of their hard work,” says Mason. “Hats off to Pat Guenette and his organizing committee that consisted of Holly Dibra, Leanne Sawatzky, Kevin Webster, Todd Neil, Danae Hiebert, Justin Reimer, and Chantal Dorscht. This group did an amazing job all weekend and we heard so many positive comments from Eastman.”
As the season ends, Mason would like to acknowledge the hard work the coaches and managers have put in during the season, noting that their dedication and time is instrumental to the success of the Clippers teams each year.
He also reminds people that the organization’s annual general meeting will be held at the Heritage Ball room on April 10 at 7:30 p.m.
“We look forward to seeing a big crowd with discussions on how we can continue to improve our program,” concludes Mason.
