Winter Range, Political Rhetoric, and a Parking Lot Protest

It was minus-20 degrees with drifting snow on February 22 at noon. In a Steinbach parking lot in front of MP Ted Falk’s constituency office, a group of eight fully electric vehicles (EVs) and their passengers gathered. Among them were Trevor Kirczenow and Blair Mahaffy, both of whom ran against Falk in the last federal election, Kirczenow for the Liberals and Mahaffy for the Greens.

Commemorative Cemetery Shed Honours Couple’s Memory

The lovely little shed recently erected in Niverville’s Heritage Cemetery was created in memory of, and with a donation from, Alvin and Marilyn Podjan, longtime residents of Niverville.

Introduced as a private member’s bill in 2021, Bill C-223 calls for the federal government to create a national Guaranteed Liveable Basic Income (GLBI), a model which she and others believe would help end poverty in the country.
