Pending approval by Niverville’s town council at a meeting on December 17, the town could soon be welcoming the global fitness franchise Anytime Fitness to its business community.

The owners of the new facility hope to locate along Drovers Run, next to Negash Coffee and Niverville’s Pizzeria, in an area that’s quickly becoming a retail hub.

“Niverville has been on our radar for about five years,” says Nathen Dyck, a member of the ownership team. “It is a progressive community that has proven its ability to sustain massive, predictable growth stemming from spectacular leadership. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?”

The facility would boast more than 5,000 square feet of exercise space plus private restrooms and showers. Members can expect a large variety of state-of-the-art exercise equipment and free weights, so there won’t be any waiting around during your limited workout time.

A turf floor will provide comfort underfoot and all equipment will be commercial grade. Members can expect free Wi-Fi access and personal TVs on the cardio equipment which allow users to enjoy their favorite Netflix series or the interactive workout courses of their choice. Treadmills will be equipped with both incline and decline options.

Qualified trainers will also be onsite to provide personalized and group-training options.

“We offer free accountability to help keep our members coming back and reaching their goals,” Dyck says. “Free workout programs are also available to every member. [What sets us apart is that] we offer high levels of customer service and support in a clean, well-lit environment.”

A variety of memberships will be available, including three-, six- and 12-month options. Members will have 24-hour per day, seven days per week access to the facility. And a membership at any one Anytime Fitness location means your membership will be recognized at all of the franchise’s 4,800 locations around the world.

Assuming Niverville council approves the application, Dyck says construction should begin sometime in February 2020 with a planned completion date by mid to late summer. He adds that shortly before opening, residents will be able to take advantage of membership presales that provide significant savings.

Nathen Dyck, Kelly Barkman, and Jayson Barkman make up the ownership team of the Niverville, Steinbach, and Lorette franchises. In the coming months, the team will be looking to hire a local facility manager as well as part-time staff and trainers.

“I have had the pleasure of working together with the Anytime Fitness ownership group for some time as they explored the possibility of starting a new location in our community,” says Ray Dowse, developer of the commercial property along Drovers Run. “They currently operate two other successful locations in southeast Manitoba and I am excited to see them officially make the commitment to Niverville and invest in our community.”

Dowse will soon begin construction of a new 6,075-square-foot addition to the east of Negash Coffee. The majority of that space will be leased to Anytime Fitness, leaving a 990-square-foot unit which Dowse says a number of other businesses have already shown an interest in.

This new phase will effectively complete construction of Dowse’s first strip mall on the west side of town.
