According to Niverville’s town council, the community’s water problems are finally a thing of the past.
For the last several years, problems at the town’s water treatment centre has led to an inadequate supply of treated water to the community, resulting in spring and summer lawn-watering bans that have frustrated residents.
That problem has finally been resolved. The town is now receiving water from a new water supply to the east of Niverville, near New Bothwell.
“For the last two and a half years, the Town of Niverville has been working with many partners to complete this historic town program,” says a statement from the town. “We now have water and licences allowing future growth for many years to come. This will also allow the town to expand into a new commercial and industrial era, and to continue to increase services to the Town of Niverville.”
The town’s statement adds that the project was funded entirely by the Water Services Board of Manitoba and proceeds from Manitoba Hydro, not from local taxation.
“Thank you all for being patient in regards to the water ban that is now over,” the statement continues.
Although the lawn-watering ban is over, the Town of Niverville would like to remind residents that it’s still important for everyone to do their part in conserving water, our most precious resource, as much as possible.
The town also wishes to personally thank their staff, the Landmark Group, the RM of Hanover, the Province of Manitoba, and Associated Engineering.
