The local results are in from this year’s Manitoba-wide municipal elections. Several members of Ritchot’s council won their seats by acclamation this year, including Mayor Chris Ewen, Janine Boulanger (Ward 4), and newcomer Curtis Claydon (Ward 3). Claydon replaced outgoing councillor Jeannot Robert, who had decided earlier this year not to seek re-election.
A tight race unfolded in Ward 2, which consists of St. Adolphe and the surrounding area. Incumbent councillor Ron Mamchuk narrowly edged out his sole competitor, Keith Pearce, 248 votes to 222. Voter turnout in the ward was 36 percent.
The other race took place in Ward 3, consisting of Île-des-Chênes and the surrounding area, where incumbent Shane Pelletier won re-election by a large margin over his opponent, Yves Bernard. Pelletier won 302 votes to 87. Voter turnout in Ward 3 was somewhat lower, at just 28 percent.
