At a public council meeting held on September 7, Ritchot council talked expansions. The first focused on the extension of high-speed internet services to the balance of the RM. The second discussion addressed the need for an expansion to the existing sewage lagoon located near Île-des-Chênes.

The Niverville Nighthawks made the short trip to Steinbach on the night of Saturday, September 10 for their first visit to the T.G. Smith Centre. In this, their last preseason game before next Friday’s season opener, the Nighthawks out-chanced the Pistons but came up short in the final score.

The Niverville Nighthawks travelled to Selkirk on Friday, September 9 to complete a preseason home-and-away series with the Steelers. The Nighthawks had won the first game 4–1.

Two Niverville musicians have been nominated for the Manitoba Country Music Awards (MCMAs), set to take place on November 6 in Winnipeg. JR Charron has been nominated for four awards, including Fan’s Choice, and Catie St. Germain is nominated for Cover Artist of the Year.

Staff Sergeant Guy Landreville of the St. Pierre RCMP detachment made a virtual presentation before Ritchot’s council on the morning of September 7.

St. Adolphe resident Dee Dee Budgell represents a contingent of Tourond Creek residents who are appealing to Ritchot’s council for quick action on reducing speed limits in their neighbourhood.

The Nighthawks took to the ice for another home preseason game on the evening Wednesday, September 7. The hometown heroes jumped to an early lead and held on for a big victory against the Selkirk Steelers.

Local farmer Marc Loeppky has few words to describe this year’s crop production other than that it’s “all over the map.” Loeppky’s farm, located immediately southwest of Niverville, consists of 3,200 acres of planted fields. This year’s crops include peas, oats, spring wheat, canola, soybeans, and corn.

Incumbent councillor Kevin Stott is back on the campaign trail and hopeful that, on October 26, residents of Niverville will send him back to the council chambers for another term.
