The owners of Pizza 311 are pleased to announce the opening of their second location, officially turning the Niverville-based business into a locally owned franchise. The new location is located in the strip mall at 597 Meadowlark Blvd in Île-des-Chênes.

Storage Bros has opened their doors in Ste. Agathe, offering storage units for personal and commercial goods for residents of the southeast. The business is located on Voyageur Road and offers units sized from 6-by-6 to 12-by-18, as well as barbed-wire security fencing, 24-hour customer access, and 24-hour camera surveillance.

For one week from May 1–7, Tim Hortons in Niverville will be holding its annual Smile Cookie fundraiser. This year, they’re raising funds for the Golden Friendship Centre in Niverville. All proceeds will go directly to the centre, which has begun a fresh series of renovations to liven up the space after hosting the community for 40 years.

Local ringette is thriving in southeastern Manitoba. Recently, many young players had the opportunity to represent Team Manitoba in the Western Canadian and Canadian Ringette Championships.

On Tuesday, May 7, Niverville’s council met for a morning public meeting that largely revolved around multifamily housing starts and the town’s requirement to meet specific density targets set out by the provincial and federal governments.

While it might be too soon to celebrate just yet, local Francophone parents with school-age children may want to start planning the party. According to the Division scolaire franco-manitobaine’s (DSFM) board of trustees, a French school for Niverville has been bumped to the very top of the division’s request list to the province.

Last weekend, from April 20–23, the Niverville Nighthawks held their spring camp at the CRRC. It was a fantastic time, with roughly 150 players attending while the team’s coaching staff put them through a series of drills and games over the weekend.

The Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre in Glenlea launched its newest facility on April 26. The Manitoba Egg Farmers (MEF) Learning and Research Centre joins the ranks of the pork, beef, and dairy facilities already onsite.

If anything can be said of Niverville’s businesses over the last few years, it’s that they’re a resilient bunch. Bearing testimony to that is the lack of Closed signs following two years of pandemic restrictions. While the community did, unfortunately, lose a couple of good ones, the general growth trend once again demonstrates a steep upward trajectory. This includes some long-term businesses currently undertaking major expansions.
