The U14 AA Eastman Flames, a ringette team from eastern Manitoba, have claimed their Provincial title. Several other local teams have also won Provincial tournaments so far this winter, including NCI’s Varsity Boys basketball squad and the Atom A Clippers from Niverville. 

The Varsity Boys basketball team from Niverville Collegiate represented at the AA basketball Provincials this year and walked away as champions. The team had gone undefeated in their regular season before qualifying for Provincials, which took place March 14–16 in Warren.

The Niverville Atom A Clippers ended their season as double champions, following up their Eastman league championship with the Provincial Atom AA title in Portage La Prairie this past weekend.

In what turned out to be a much less-spirited match than their game earlier in the season, the Jets fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning 5–2 on Tuesday night, snapping their short two-game win streak, which had come on the heels of a seven-game losing streak. 

This winter’s long stretch of cold weather has been a breath of fresh air for curlers at the Niverville Curling Club. 

Mason Funk, a local athlete, recently got the chance to play in the 2019 International Pigskin Classic in San Antonio, Texas.
