An investigation body assigned to deal with charges related to the actions of RCMP’s officer, the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU), has concluded that an allegation against an on-duty RCMP officer has merit.

The officer is accused of committing a driving offence in January along Highway 59 between Niverville and St. Pierre-Jolys.

The civilian director of the IIU has determined there are reasonable grounds to believe an offence occurred under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

As a result of the investigation, the officer in question has been issued a summons to appear in provincial court on July 27, 2021 on a charge of driving carelessly.
