The Niverville Dairy Queen has embarked on a week-long fundraising initiative to raise money for the Manitoba’s Children’s Hospital and help support children and families in need.
The initiative started on Monday, October 5 and will continue until this upcoming Sunday.
This week, five dollars will be donated for every eight-inch or larger DQ Cake or Blizzard Cake sold. Funds will be raised through in-store, pick-up, and drive thru orders.
“On average, 35,000 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network hospital each week,” reads a press release from the company. “That’s 5,000 per day, or 62 per minute. To support the children and their families receiving treatment at Manitoba Children’s Hospital, Dairy Queen employees, franchisees, volunteers, and stakeholders come together throughout the year to help raise funds.”
The partnership between Dairy Queen and the Children’s Miracle Network began in 1984, and since that time the company has become a top contributor, having raised $135 million in support across North America.
“In addition to the in-store fundraising, Dairy Queen is calling on Canadians to take part in the DQ Dance Challenge,” says the press release. The goal is to spread joy through movement and, in the process, “raise money to provide healing and happiness to kids across Canada.”
Dairy Queen’s Dance Challenge asks Canadians to do the DQ Dip & Curl Dance, a simple three-step dance routine inspired by DQ’s iconic soft dipped cone. (See the link below for a video demonstration.)
“From now until October 11, every time someone posts a video of them doing the DQ Dip and Curl dance to Instagram and/or Facebook using the hashtag #DQDanceChallenge and tagging @DQCanada, DQ will donate $1 to local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network up to $25,000,” the statement reds. “Dairy Queen is encouraging Canadians to challenge friends through tagging them in their post to help spread the word.”
