Hespeler’s Launches Remembrance Day Fundraising Initiative

After two years of hosting outdoor events, the Niverville Remembrance Day Committee is excited to announce the return of this year’s ceremony and luncheon to the warm and inviting indoor setting of the Niverville Heritage Centre.

Every year, from the last Friday of October to November 11, tens of millions of Canadians wear a poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s veterans and remember those who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today.

To contribute this year, Hespeler’s Cookhouse and Tavern in Niverville has launched a new fundraising initiative today to raise money for the Royal Canadian Legion’s annual Poppy Campaign.

“As we all are aware, everyone has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Robert Manchulenko, Chief Officer of Hospitality and Support Services at the Niverville Heritage Centre. “We understand that this year additional pressures will be placed on our community, veterans, and the Royal Canadian Legion as many Remembrance Day activities will not be able to take place.”

Manchulenko has announced that the Heritage Centre will donate $1 from each burger sold between October 30 and November 11 to the Royal Canadian Legion. In addition, they will accept debit and credit card payments for poppy donations, since so many people have moved away from carrying cash this year.

“We urge other businesses to do what they can to support the Poppy Campaign 2020.”
