Niverville’s council met virtually on the evening of Tuesday, February 16 to discuss a variety of items on the town’s agenda.
The concise meeting saw council approve a five-year conditional use permit for a home-based massage therapy business owned by Raeanna Hiebert at 33 Second Street South.
In other news, the construction budget for the Niverville CRRC was increased by approximately $157,000 for unaccounted costs related to the scope of the building project, such as additional security measures, improved finishings, and improved automation of the building.
Town CAO Eric King also reported that some specific budget items are yet to be made firm with the building’s contractors, Von Ast Construction.
“There are some unresolved scope changes which would be reviewed in the future once items are finalized, such as electrical installation in the building’s canteen area,” said King.
Council approved the out-of-scope budget increases and is looking forward to finalizing the outstanding budget line items as soon as possible.
Finally, Mayor Myron Dyck provided an update on the Heritage Life Personal Care Home vaccination schedule.
“All the seniors in the personal care home have had their first doses and we believe by the end of the week they will have their second doses,” said Mayor Dyck. “Regarding our assisted living residents, there are some ongoing negotiations between the Heritage Centre and the province regarding when they will be receiving their vaccines, but I’m hearing that it will be sooner rather than later.”
