A New Bothwell man has been charged in connection to a robbery that took place on Sunday, October 18, around 7:30 p.m. That evening, the St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP responded to a report of two young people, aged 16 and 17, who were robbed while walking to the store in New Bothwell.
“Officers were advised that a male suspect, who was armed with a knife, had approached the two youths and demanded money from them,” reads a statement from the RCMP. “The youths handed over what they had and ran home where they advised their parents of what had just occurred.”
In the days to follow, the RCMP’s investigation has led to the arrest of 20-year-old Bryan Doerksen, of New Bothwell. At the time of the arrest, officers located and seized the knife and clothing used during the robbery.
Doerksen has been charged with several offences, including Robbery, Disguised with Intent, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Assault with a Weapon. He is in custody and is scheduled to make a court appearance on Wednesday in Winnipeg.
