A Note from the Niverville Fair Committee: As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, the Niverville Olde Tyme Country Fair committee will be monitoring the situation closely.
As of now, the fair is set to take place as scheduled on June 12–13. Planning, pre-sales, and concert announcements will continue as planned. However, we acknowledge that the current situation is creating uncertainty about the viability of large public gathering in the coming weeks and months. Rest assured, in the event of cancellation, all pre-sale tickets will be fully refunded.
We will consult with experts as our dates get closer, and when the time comes we will make an appropriate decision. We are hopeful that precautions being taken at this time will allow our festival, along with the many others throughout Manitoba, to take place as planned.
The Niverville Olde Tyme Country Fair is ready to make a big announcement. At this year’s fair, the Saturday evening mainstage concert will feature none other than award-winning country act High Valley.
This high-energy country duo includes two Canadian brothers, Brad and Curtis Rempel. After signing with Atlantic/Warner Nashville in 2015, they released their debut album, Dear Life, which includes two gold-certified singles, “Make You Mine” and “She’s with Me.”
Their brand-new single, released earlier this year, is titled “Single Man.” Their second album features this new track and will be released later in 2020.
The Rempel brothers grew up in the small town of Blumenort, Alberta. Contemporary music was inaccessible, so the two played music wherever they could, including in their church alongside other family members. That wholesome, family-focused upbringing flows through their thigh-slapping, banjo-playing songs to this day.
High Valley received two consecutive Academy of Country Music (ACM) nominations for New Vocal Duo or Group. Over the past few years, they have toured the world, opening for bands like Old Dominion as well as headlining their own shows.
Opening for them will be Manitoba’s own rising country artist, Emma Peterson. She is originally from Winnipegosis, and therefore also raised “small-town proud.” Peterson has been in the country music scene since 2016, when she took top spot in CMT’s Chevy Tailgate Contest.
Her latest single came out earlier this year, titled “Maybe Tonight,” and it has been a hit during recent performances. One of those shows included performing at Dauphin’s Countryfest. Last year she took home the award for Emerging Artist of the Year at the Manitoba Country Music Awards (MCMA).
For the fair’s Friday evening entertainment, the committee was so pleased with last year’s acts that they asked two of them to return. This includes the hypnotist known as Matao, and Big Top Radio.
Matao has been working hypnosis for more than twenty years. This Winnipeger uses his talents on stage to perform comedy shows, like at the fair. But he also practices hypnotism for therapeutic purposes, for things like quitting smoking and weight loss.
Big Top Radio is a seven-piece 80s rock anthem cover band. However, this is no ordinary cover band, as the 80s included a lot of hair spray, tight and bright clothes, and theatrics. This band will bring you right back to those times of old, touting an authentic and loud re-enactment of one of rock music’s most bombastic and show-stopping eras.
They not only cover songs from Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Alice Cooper, and Queen, but they also cover each detailed look, down to the feather boas.
Last year, due to stormy weather, both Matao and Big Top Radio had their mainstage performances relocated to the covered tent next to the beer gardens. While thankful to have had that option, this year, weather provided, they will bring their talents to a wider audience and perform on the mainstage.
As per usual, the Niverville Olde Tyme Country Fair desires to bring out fun entertainment for the whole family.
