For one week from May 1–7, Tim Hortons in Niverville will be holding its annual Smile Cookie fundraiser. This year, they’re raising funds for the Golden Friendship Centre in Niverville. All proceeds will go directly to the centre, which has begun a fresh series of renovations to liven up the space after hosting the community for 40 years.

One of the main areas receiving an upgrade is the kitchen, which has served up meals for seniors and countless perogy fundraisers dinners. That very kitchen helped to support the Smile Cookie campaign last year, operating as a hub for cookie decorating.

The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie program sells specially decorated cookies and contributes 100 percent of the proceeds towards local community groups.

In past years, Tim Hortons in Niverville has raised funds for Growing Minds Childcare Centre and the Communities in Bloom memory garden in the courtyard of the Heritage Life Personal Care Home.

The Golden Friendship Centre offers seniors programs such as an adult day program on Mondays and Thursdays. It is also a popular location for community activities, classes, and bingo nights.

To those who operate the centre, and frequent it, these renovations are long overdue.

A box of 12 cookies is available to purchase for $18. Order forms are available by email at gfcinc.president@gmail.com. Or you can head over to Tim Hortons in Niverville to make your purchase in person.
