After years of waiting and much advocating, the Niverville Fire and EMS department will be the first in the province registered as Advanced First Aid (AFA) service providers. The program will officially launch on March 1.

In just two weeks, players from across the country will converge in Niverville for the CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship. The four-day tournament from March 11–14 is being hosted at the CRRC by Providence University College.

As of February 18, three new medical doctors are seeing patients at Open Health Niverville. This brings the clinic’s total physician count to 15.

The Joy Smith Foundation, soon to be headquartered in Niverville, is getting ready to launch its annual fundraising gala aimed at exposing the ugly reality of human trafficking. On March 12, the Illuminate Hope Gala will be held at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

The Winter Olympics have come to a close, but several local youth athletes are preparing for their own moment on the big stage at the upcoming Manitoba Games. Held every two years and alternating between summer and winter competitions, the Games will take place this year in Thompson from March 1–7. More than 1,500 competitors from across Manitoba will take part, including more than 150 athletes representing Team South in 12 sports.

The Niverville Nighthawks wrapped up their northern road trip Saturday night with a hard-fought 3–2 overtime victory over the Northern Manitoba Blizzard, completing a four-game season sweep of the season series.
